Horse Sense for Grades 5-8
This August High Hopes is excited to announce the 2011 Horse Sense Camp, an educational outreach endeavor which targets New London youth grades 5-8. Horse Sense will offer four days of dynamic and experiential curriculum with our staff and horses guiding discussions and activities which explore respect, cooperation, leadership skills, and community building. The academic component of Horse Sense will be exploratory reinforcing equine activities and program goals through research and investigation; students will complete final projects (ranging from posters to theatrical performances) which reveal what they have learned, the friendships they have made and how the horse influenced the process. Horse Sense will create a challenging yet companionable environment where horses become our teachers as we investigate the meaning of community, responsibility, team work and volunteerism. Through this interactive and educationally based four day camp session, we hope to empower Connecticut youth to grow into responsible leaders and compassionate citizens.
Horse Sense is offered Monday through Thursday from 9am – 1pm on the following dates:
Cost is $150 per participant and scholarship applications are available upon request.
Transportation will be provided to and from specified pick-up/drop-off locations in New London.
