High Hopes has a variety
of outreach programs designed to bring equine-related activities
to an even larger population of people who can benefit from
them throughout the community. Field trips from schools and local organizations are available. Student visitors receive an
introduction to horse grooming, handling and riding.
Another aspect of a field trip to
High Hopes may be some time spent with our Delta-certified therapy pony,
Smokey, or a try on our mechanical
horse, Mr. Ed. Our staff and volunteers facilitate
these programs and give participants a taste of the joy and wonder
that
can come from being with horses.
For those seeking further education
on horses, equine-related topics, disabilities or therapeutic
riding, the High Hopes
staff is available
for workshops
and lecture presentations. Some of the topics
covered are cognitive impairments, sensory integration and
riding,
seasonal horse care, maintenance of tack and special equipment,
and centered
riding. This is a great opportunity to obtain valuable information
from respected and knowledgeable professionals in the field
of therapeutic riding.
